A Prideful Spirit - A Great Distruction To Many

Proverbs 16:18-19
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. (KJV)

Webster says that pride is:

1. The quality or state of being proud: as a : inordinate self-esteem : conceit
2. Proud or disdainful behavior or treatment : disdain

Education, experience, knowledge, a special license, money, etc. does not give someone the right to have pride at the level that Proverbs and Webster speak of.  If you find it disgusting or disdain to interact with people that are not trained as you are, like to talk down about their efforts, or not on the same status in life as you, then you've got a big problem. You may not see destruction right now but at some point you will.  God hates pride!

I want to have a humble spirit and for everyone that I am around to feel that we are on the same level. What we know doesn't make us any better than the homeless on the street, a prisoner who has broken the law or the uneducated person that is trying to follow God's calling.  We are all the same in God's eyes.

Lord help me to have a humble spirit in Your sight and others.

Proverbs 29:23 says: A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

I want to make it a goal in my life to treat all people as people not because of what they have or don't have.
